Our Club History
The Riverview Lions Club was chartered on March 17, 1960 by the Moncton Lions Club. In the early days the members of the Riverview Lions Club met at the K & P Hall that was located on the Pine Glen Road. In 1975 their new home became a little two room School house at the current location of the Riverview Lions Club Community Center at 701 Coverdale Road. The two room School house was first renovated in 1981 with the idea of providing the members and the Community a single yet larger hall to accommodate the growth of the membership and projects, such as Bingo and small catering projects, that required more space. In 1991 the Riverview Lions Club Community Center took on an entirely different look by removing the stair access at the main entrance to accommodate wheelchairs and easier entrance for seniors. With the growing demand for Community participation by the Lions Club a large hall was added and could hold up to 275 seats in the upper hall and 250 seats in our lower hall. In 2005, a need to improve accessibility even further and upgrade the kitchen facilities for our many projects the Riverview Lions Club Community Center went through another major renovation. Although no additional capacity was added, a safer, more accessible and modernized equipment was the end gain for the citizens of the community that use the facility. Most recently in 2007, push button door accessibility was added to the main entrance for convenient entry by our seniors and guests with disabilities.
